Appears that Holland is going off this week. It hasn’t been windy this year in spring at all. Mostly we had nice weather here with lots of easterly winds. Then during summer some nice days here with 6 and 7 Beaufort. Now however it looks like we are getting back to business as usually. Have a look at this forecast:

Just back from a wonderful trip to Morocco with perfect timing. There was no wind before we arrived for about three weeks. Then we entered the scene and it was blowing like hell for the next 18 days. My biggest sail was 4.7m2, my smallest 3.7m2. Almost every day it would have been possible to use the 4.2m2 if and only if I would have had enough energy left. In fact I paused for two days.
I created an album with some selected pictures about our trip. Check it out dude!
Unfortnuatly no really good videos have been shot. Anyway, I will setup a small video and a travel report. It’s all in progress.

Here’s my first windsurf video recorded with my new helmet camera on May 27th, 2009. This movie has been recorded in Makkum in the north-west of the Netherlands. The wind catched up that day from 6Bf to later more than 7Bf. The video was shot in a good 6,5 BF using my 4.7m2 wave sail (Ice) on my favorite board, the starboard 94L flare. Later I had to change to 4.2mm and 76L beast, but no recording were done then.
Please stand by — for quite a while — until player starts. It looks like the whole video is buffered before things are starting… I love (open source) software but more often I’m ready to jump out of the window.

A short clip showing an powerjibe attempt from a know rider as seen by me. The main reason for the failed jibe is the missing speed before and especially during the jibe. The board gets stalled and all ends when turned about 90 degrees. I admit that it’s bit tricky to see that the other ride is indeed missing some speed. I believe he looks much faster than he was because the camera is itself in a rather fast motion.

A short clip showing a powerjibe as seen by the rider himself. A nice detail of this move is that I’m looking backward during the move (as it should be done). I honestly don’t do that always. The scene got recorded on June 19th, 2009 in Makkum in moderate wind (around 6Bf) using a 5.3m2 sail (Ice) and my favorite board, the startboard flare with 94 litres.
